Title: Preparation for the presentation FYP day.

In this week, we do many things for the project which is troubleshoot, construction the model and prepare the poster for presentation.

Equipment and tools that we used to complete this model:
    1) Pt Board

    2) Hot glue
    3) Plywood
    4) Board
    5) Double Tape
    6) Ruler
    7) Scissor
    8) Colour Paper

    9) Tack tape
   12) Driller
   13) Cutter

The poster needs to have :
  • Project title
  • Student's name
  • Logo University
  • Block diagram
  • Flow Chart
  • Objectives
  • Methodology
  • Conclusion
  • References

And the last day before the FYP exhibition day, we meet our supervisor Madam Punitha to test and demo our project to get her opinion for the exhibition day.

Week 11

Date:7/10/2019
Title: Combine the project

In this week, we have to Combine the project which is Arduino Uno is the main component as a connector to this two project. All the hardware for this project were combined according to the circuit schematic above.

After the process of combination is done, my partner made a block diagram while I made a flowchart for our banner to be prepared for our exhibition day. This is our flowchart and block diagram.

Week 10

Title: Final FYP Diploma Briefing

This week is about the final briefing of the Final Year Project.

Date: 2nd October 2019 (Wednesday)
Venue: TTL2
Time: 3 pm to 5pm

In the final briefing, the FYP committees have explained us about :
·         FYP Diploma Exhibition Day (Tips & Tricks)
Submission of Progress Report & Final Report

In conclusion, the contents for this week were clearly understood by students. This can help student to be well prepared for FYP Exhibition Day and also in doing a complete Thesis.

Week 9

Date:23/9/2019 -27/9/2019
Title: Making a connections

In this week, I make a connection and put a program code into arduino to command the LCD using arduino software. There are many trials that i made for installing a code into arduino because it is my first time using arduino.

The circuit that i marked in red was my project. This voltage sensors can read the value in the voltage. Why i used two sensors? Because first is to measure the value of voltage in the circuit and the others is to measure the value of voltage of the solar recieved. After that, I write a coding and install into Arduino.

Other than that, my project is to connect the solar panel to the battery to be charges.

Week 8

Date: 9/9/2019 (Monday)
Title : Research and findings

In this week I’m continuing my research about LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). In my project, I would like to interface arduino with LCD.

Introduction of LCD
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module and find a wide range of applications. A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very commonly used in various devices and circuits. These modules are preferred over seven segments and other multi segment LEDs. The reasons being: LCDs are economical; easily programmable; have no limitation of displaying special & even custom characters (unlike in seven segments), animations and so on.

16x2 LCD means it can display 16 characters per line and there are 2 such lines. In this LCD each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. This LCD has two registers, namely, Command and Data.

This is a datasheet of LCD 16x2

From datasheet above, LCD 16x2 can using 16 pin(for 8 bit) and 12 pin(for 4 bit). I try to connected  the lcd to my arduino.

Week 7

Title: FINAL YEAR PROJECT Workshop

This week is about the Workshop of the Final Year Project.

Date: 4th September 2019 (Wednesday)
Venue: TTL2
Time: 3 pm to 5pm

In the workshop, the FYP committees have explained us about :
·         Result and Discussion (Chapter 4)
          Conclusion (Chapter 5)
          Abstract Writing

In conclusion, the contents for this week were clearly understood by students. This can help student to be well prepared in doing a complete Thesis.

Week 6

In this week, me and my partner(Harith Akmal) decided to divided this project into two. This is because this project is combined from two project. First is the solar charger with LCD and the others is the sun tracking system.

After decide this, I make a list for my component such as:
Resistor
Solar Panel
Junpers

Liquid Crystal Display(LCD)

Voltage Sensors

Battery and Battery Holder

For Arduino is the main component that will combine the project solar charger with LCD and the sun tracking system into DEVELOPMENT OF SMART SOLAR TRACKER USING ARDUINO.

Week 5

Date: 23/08/2019 (Friday)
Title: Project titles confirmation

After doing my researches and thinking about our capabilities, I have decided to take Madam Punitha's title which is DEVELOPMENT OF SMART SOLAR TRACKER USING ARDUINO”. She also suggested that this project can be used for factory and home usage. After that, Madam register our title via FYP UniKL BMI Website 'http://fyp.bmi.unikl.edu.my/'.

After discussing with madam, I continued doing some comfirmation research as our reference.

Week 4

Title: FINAL YEAR PROJECT Workshop

This week is about the Workshop of the Final Year Project.

Date: 14th August 2019 (Wednesday)
Venue: TTL2
Time: 3 pm to 5pm

In the workshop, the FYP committees have tell us about :
·         Introduction Writing (Chapter 1)
          Literature Review (Chapter 2)
          Methodology (Chapter 3)

In conclusion, the contents for this week were clearly understood by students. This can help student to be well prepared in doing a complete Thesis.

Week 3

Date: 5/08/2019 (Thursday)
Title: Selecting a supervisor

For this week, me and my partner (Harith Akmal) decided to search for lecturer that are still available to be our supervisor for FYP.

After discussed with my partner, then we went to meet Madam Dr. Punithavathi D/O Thirunavakkarasu.
Madam Punitha gives us a few tittles that can be taken under her supervision. We were interested in one of the title which is “DEVELOPMENT OF SMART SOLAR TRACKER USING ARDUINO”.

Madam suggested us to do some research first before confirming to take the title.

Information about Madam Punitha

After the meeting with Madam Punitha, I made some basic research about the tittle and I felt that with enough research and knowledge, I can complete this project. Madam Punitha would be a great supervisor based on her wide knowledge about engineering.
